Teachers


Oasis' team of teachers comprises of dedicated individuals who teach from the heart, offering a rare dimension of genuine concern for a student's progress.

Erika Khoo Soon Hoe has been practicing yoga since 1972 and has been teaching since 1975. Her first teacher was Mr. Eradi who is a disciple of Vishudevananda from India. Since then she has obtained a diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga. Thereafter she obtained her advanced teaching diploma in Sivananda Yoga. She started classes with Peter Thomson in 2002. She obtained Iyengar certification in 2011. Erika is the director of Oasis Holistic. Yoga is her life and that is where her practice and teaching comes from.

Akiko Kamata 鎌田 有希子
started practicing yoga in 2007 in Singapore at Oasis Holistic. She started studying with Peter Thomson and was certified in 2011. Akiko is consistently studying under Peter Thomson and attends his regular workshops, intensives and annual retreats. She also took classes at RIMYI in 2012 as an extension of her learning. She started teaching in 2011 and is able to teach in both English and Japanese languages fluently. Just as she appreciates her own personal growth and improvement from her own practice, she enjoys seeing her student’s progression.

Angeline Goh
started practicing yoga in 2004 to find relief from the stress of her office job. When the practice helped to alleviate her many aches and pains, she decided to take up teacher training to deepen her understanding of yoga and help others. Angeline has studied with Peter Thomson and received her Introductory Level II Iyengar yoga teacher certification in 2011.

Audrey Goh has been practising yoga since 1991 with Erika Khoo. In 2005 she started practicing under the guidance of Peter Thomson and was awarded an Introductory Level 2 certification in 2011. As she believes that learning is a life long process, she is currently enrolled into the "Teacher Development" program to further improve herself.


Lena Teo started practicing yoga in 1994 as part of overall fitness program. In 2000, she took an interest in Iyengar yoga’s focus on alignment and balance and started practicing under Normala Manap. She is furthering her Iyengar practice with Peter Thomson since 2005 and in 2011 was Introductory Level II certified. In 2012 she spent 2 months in Iyengar Institute in Pune and immersed herself in the Iyengar teachings as she continues to further develop her understanding of the practice.

Mala Manap has been practicing Iyengar yoga since 1988, and teaching since 2000. Mala started her yoga journey when she was 28 years old when a knee injury which she sustained due to a childhood car accident resurfaced and she started limping again as she was after the accident. Terrified she searched for a sustainable solution beyond drugs and found the panacea in Iyengar yoga in 1998 and never looked back. She started teaching in 2000, out of the desire to share the amazing resource that a yoga practise offers. As part of her learning pursuit, Mala has trained with the Iyengar family namely Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar, as well as attended workshops and retreats with senior teachers including Ramanand Patel, Rodney Yee, Shandor Remete, Jawahar Bangera and others. Her main teacher and mentor is Peter Thomson, a founding member of the Australian BKS Iyengar Yoga Association.

Maureen Teo started practicing yoga with Erika Khoo since 1996. Under the guidance of Peter Thomson she was awarded Introductory level 2 Iyengar certification in 2011. Initially, yoga was a challenging process for her but as she progressed, Maureen realised the benefits and improvement in her mental and physical self. She would like to share her experiences with her students and also to further her development in teaching.

Timothy Khoo started practicing yoga since 2002 and has been running Oasis Holistic since 2003. He started teaching from 2004. He is under the consistent tutelage of Peter Thomson since 2005. He has also recently attended classes in RIMYI in 2012. Timothy enjoys the yoga learning process and its continual deepening development and involvement. He is deeply appreciative of his personal growth from the yoga practice and looks to bring that into his classes.

Yap Meng Chuan  叶铭钏
has been teaching yoga since 2001. He has been awarded teaching certificates from The International Sivananda Yoga Vendanta Centre, India, and Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation. Meng Chuan has completed a diploma course in Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda under A.G. Mohan, a renowned yoga master based in India. Meng Chuan believes in continuous learning, and sharing his deeper understanding of the practice with his students. His teaching style reflects the inspiration behind his own studies and explorations.

Yeoh Su Unn 杨素恩 started practicing yoga in 2007. As she immerse in the practice, the asana work on the mat moved beyond the physical realm and evolved into something that nourished and nurtured her entire being. Her practice focuses on developing awareness and observation of existing conditions and from there, adjusting to fulfill the potential.
Su Unn has been studying with Peter Thomson, senior Iyengar teacher, since 2008 and continues to develop her practice under his guidance. She is a certified Iyengar teacher and holds an Introductory Level II certificate.
