Mindfulness is the ability to observe clearly and non-judgementally. Insight (Vipassana) meditation is the practice of developing understanding or “insight” through the cultivation of mindfulness. As we practise mindfulness, we begin to cultivate a mindful relationship with life experiences, replacing our habitual reactivity with greater awareness and intention. Our confused and emotionally painful tendencies gradually lessen. Through practise, clarity, discernment, integrity and resilience emerge and develop and ultimately, the skill of living intelligently and with compassion.
These sessions are open to anyone who is interested in learning about Insight meditation, as well as those who have previously practised with Lynne or within this tradition and wish to refine and further develop their practice. Sessions include periods of instruction and guidance as well as silent meditation practise and opportunities for discussion and questions. The day is structured progressively, such that each session builds upon what came before.

In 1975 Lynne began practising Insight meditation in BodhGaya, India and continued her study in Burma, when it became possible to undertake long-term practise there in 1980. She has returned to Burma regularly for intensive practice and to develop her understanding of meditation. She helped establish Vipassana Meditation in Australia and was co-founder of the Blue Mountains Insight Meditation Centre (BMIMC) in the tradition of Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma. She teaches meditation retreats and courses regularly in Australia and Asia.
Lynne began working as a clinical psychologist in Sydney in 1992 and has developed a unique and special combination of skills from her meditation and clinical training. Her meditation understanding has allowed her to teach clients to apply mindfulness to loosen the grip of distressing emotions and thereby transform daily suffering into a happier, engaged life.
