Yoga Practice Week with Peter Thomson

Peter is a senior teacher in the Iyengar tradition
Schedule
26 to 30 November 2012 (Monday to Friday)
6:30 to 8:30am

Total of 10 hours

Peter will be conducting several of these practice weeks during the course of the year. Participants can present for the week with whatever they are working with in their practices and with whatever strategies and
understandings they are approaching their practices with and Peter will respond to and guide whatever is presented.

This format is really intended to meet the needs of those seeking to establish and refine their practice. As such it should be very helpful for those in this position seeking to understand questions such as priorities, sequencing, balance and methodology in practice. In other words all participants need to have some kind of practice which they can present for Peter's consideration and response.

This format is not really appropriate for those who are not yet practicing and consequently not yet at the point where these practical questions around practice and how to
approach it are to arise. Students in that situation would be better advised to attend the scheduled workshops.

About Peter Thomson
Peter has been practicing yoga since 1979 and a student of the Iyengar family since 1981. He has traveled to Pune to study at the Iyengar Institute well over 20 times and has been a participant in most special intensives and courses at the Institute over the years, including notably the backbend intensive with Mr. Iyengar in 1991.

Peter is one of Australia's most senior and most experienced teachers and practitioners and has been heavily involved in the development of Iyengar yoga both in Australasian and more recently in South-East Asian region. This is so in terms of basic teaching but also in terms of teaching training and certification processes.

Peter’s particular interest in the practice and teaching of yoga is the depth of perception, inquiry and understanding that sustained practice can develop and in making that understanding directly accessible to students so they can claim it as their own in their practice and in their lives.
